A charity auction featuring personal items from actor Matthew Perry, known for playing Chandler Bing on Friends, ranges from scripts from the series to works of art by Banksy. The proceeds will go to the foundation created in the artist's name, aimed at supporting people with chemical dependency.
Perry died at the age of 54, in 2023, after decades of dealing with drug and alcohol addiction. Now, the actor's executors have put up for sale around 130 items from his personal collection, including watches, childhood objects, pieces linked to Batman - a character of which he was a declared fan - and works of contemporary art.
According to Roberta Kramer, vice president of business development at Heritage Auctions, responsible for the auction, the lots represent different phases of the actor's life.
Among the highlights are original scripts for Friends, with a starting bid of US$500. (around R$2.5 thousand). Perry participated in the series for ten years, playing the sarcastic Chandler Bing, one of the most popular characters in the production set in New York.

The auction also includes his favorite watch, a stainless steel Memorigin with the symbol of the Batman, memorabilia from the series that earned him legions of fans around the world, and works of contemporary art he collected.

Among the works of art available are certified editions of "Girl with Balloon" and "Nola" by Banksy, which can exceed US$1 million (more than R$5 million). There are also pieces by contemporary artists such as Rob Pruitt, Mel Bochner and Greg Miller.
Photos and personal letters are also part of the exhibition, including materials sent by actress Jennifer Aniston, Perry's co-star in the series.
The items are on display at the auction house's headquarters in Los Angeles. The auction has already started online and will have an in-person event on June 5, in Dallas, Texas.
