France and Argentina on the field: see the World Cup schedule this Tuesday (16)
The 2026 World Cup will have three matches this Tuesday (16), including the debut of two teams considered among the favorites for the title and Erling Haaland's first appearance in the tournament.
The round starts at 4pm (Brasília time), with the duel between France and Senegal for Group I, at MetLife Stadium, in New Jersey.
Led by Didier Deschamps, France goes into its debut looking to confirm its favoritism. The coach will reach his 20th World Cup game in charge of the French.
The Europeans also defend an important milestone: they have not lost a World Cup debut since 2002. Since then, there have been three wins and two draws in opening matches.
On the other side will be Senegal, who arrive strong after a historic campaign that guaranteed qualification for the tournament.
At 7pm, Iraq and Norway take the field at Gillette Stadium, in Foxborough, also in Group I.
The two teams had very different paths to the World Cup, but they begin the competition on equal terms in a bracket considered one of the most balanced.
The main attraction of the match will be Erling Haaland. Top scorer in the European Qualifiers with 16 goals in eight games, the striker is competing in his first World Cup and is Norway's great hope of ending a 28-year drought without participation in the tournament.

Closing the day's schedule, current world champion Argentina debuts at 10pm against Algeria, in Kansas City, in Group J.
Led by Lionel Messi, the Argentine team begins the defense of the title won in 2022 and tries to take the first step towards another historic campaign.
The recent record is favorable to the South Americans. Argentina have won their last six World Cup games against African teams and are looking to extend their run against Algeria.
