Former vice-president of Gaviões da Fiel details project with Boca Juniors fans to combat racism

The former vice-president of Gaviões da Fiel, known as Pulginha, commented on an initiative that has been built in partnership with La 12, Boca Juniors' main organized fan base, to promote actions to combat racism in the stands. According to him, the proposal goes beyond traditional campaigns carried out by football entities and seeks to stimulate dialogue directly with fans.

According to Pulginha, the idea has been debated internally at Gaviões for a few years and gained strength after successive cases of racism recorded in South American football. The former leader revealed that the meeting with representatives from La 12 served to share the project and initiate joint coordination between the two organizations.

"About the racism campaign, we've been thinking about it for a few years. Each case is uncomfortable, each case that happens generates internal debate, and we've always thought about doing something for the stands. Not these campaigns against racism that the federation, the CBF, puts up a little banner and doesn't create a debate in the stands, with the fans.

We already have this idea, we are already developing this project, it is already being articulated. And our idea was to share this with La 12 so that the two could promote the project to the world, because the campaign is already really outside of South America.

So, it's a behind-the-scenes start, but their idea here, the Gaviões, is to deepen a respectful dialogue with them. It's an important point, that's why they're at the party. We took the opportunity to share grandstand ideas, and they promptly closed. So, we're going to come up with lots of plans with La 12 to debate this topic in the stands."
