For four and a half years in the Corinthians youth ranks, defender João Cardozo is experiencing one of the most important moments of his career in European football. Currently at Como 1907, in Italy, the defender was champion of Primavera 2 Regione Nord, gaining the team access to the elite of Italian youth football, Primavera 1. The excellent season gained even more importance with the professional team's qualification for the UEFA Champions League, guaranteeing the club's under-19 squad participation in the next edition of the UEFA Youth League, considered the Champions League for youth categories.

The defender's trajectory continues to be closely monitored by Corinthians, who maintained 30% of the athlete's economic rights after his transfer to Italy. Revealed by the São Paulo club, João is now looking to consolidate his evolution on the European scene and also dreams of a new call-up to the Lebanon under-20 team, after having already been called up previously, although he has not yet made his debut for the national team.

João highlights that much of his evolution as an athlete was built during his formative years at Corinthians, an experience that he considers fundamental to reaching European football prepared for great challenges.

"I am very grateful to Corinthians for the four and a half years I lived at the club. It was there that I matured as a player and as a person, living daily with a high-level structure and learning a lot. Today I can put into practice everything I developed during this period and I am happy to live this special moment here in Italy, with the title, access and the opportunity to compete in the UEFA Youth League.", said the defender.

In addition to his good moment at the Italian club, the defender maintains another important objective for the rest of the season: to be remembered again by the Lebanon under-20 team.

"Being called up to the Lebanon under-20 team was already a very important achievement for me. Even without taking the field at that opportunity, I continue working to receive a new chance. I want to continue evolving at Como and I believe that good results at the club can open the doors to the national team again.", added João Cardozo.

Career

João Cardozo built a large part of his training in the youth teams at Corinthians, where he remained for four and a half years. At the age of 16, he was loaned to play for Roma, where he was coached by José Mourinho in his professional squad appearances. After the transfer to Como 1907, from Italy, Corinthians remained with 30% of the defender's economic rights, following his evolution abroad.
