Hired by Corinthians in 2011 after standing out for Avaí, goalkeeper Renan Soares arrived at Parque São Jorge surrounded by expectations. At the time, 20 years old, the athlete was considered one of the promises of the position in Brazilian football and accumulated calls for the youth teams of the Brazilian National Team.
Despite the projection, the archer's trajectory at the black and white club was short. Renan only played three official matches with the Corinthians shirt and spent a large part of his contract being loaned to other teams. Still, the former goalkeeper guarantees that wearing the Corinthians shirt was a dream come true and says he has no regrets regarding his time at the club.

In an interview with ge.globo, Renan recalled his time at Corinthians and highlighted the support he received from the fans, even with the short time he was on the field.
"Arriving at Corinthians was a little turbulent. It was a very good sale for Avaí, for everyone. And it was a dream for me to also wear the Corinthians shirt. The fans always supported me from beginning to end. There were only three games, but we were working every day. My only regrets are not having come (to Santa Catarina) on the day of the death of my grandmother, who was a mother to me, who raised me. It was on a day in Botafogo and Corinthians. And also not coming to see my son born. I was in Portugal. But today my son, who is 13 years old, understands."
The goalkeeper's debut came at an important moment in Corinthians campaign in the 2011 Brazilian Championship. At the time, Corinthians were leading the competition and maintaining an undefeated streak of ten matches. Renan received the opportunity after the injury to Julio Cesar, then the team's starter.
The first game took place against Cruzeiro, at Pacaembu. The team from Minas Gerais won 1 x 0, with a goal scored by Wallyson with a long-distance shot. The move ended up negatively marking the goalkeeper's passage through the club.
After that match, Renan only played twice more in official games for Corinthians. His last appearance took place in September 2011, in a friendly against Grêmio Osasco. After that, the athlete did not return to defend the main team.
During the following years, the goalkeeper accumulated loans to different Brazilian football clubs and also abroad. Among the teams he played for are Vitória, Estoril, from Portugal, Guarani, Botafogo-SP, Bragantino, Caxias and Tigres from Brazil.
Even without being able to establish himself at Corinthians, Renan stated that he would not change the decisions made throughout his career and highlighted his gratitude for the path built in professional football.
"For the rest, I don't regret anything, having made my decisions, having the strong personality I always had. All the decisions were thought out. So much so that in 2016 I said I wouldn't play football anymore. There were some invitations, but my father and I followed the path of construction. Just gratitude for football. Today we have the construction company largely due to the sweat of my father, who always worked hard, was always a man who took care of his service. And, above all, for football, the entire structure created in these seven years."
According to data from the website OGol, Renan ended his professional career with 124 matches played and a Brazilian Championship title won by Corinthians in 2011. Currently, at 35 years old, the former goalkeeper works in the construction industry and manages a company in Governador Celso Ramos, on the coast of Santa Catarina.
