Former Corinthians, Gabi Portilho reaffirms statements about leaving Corinthians and says he has no regrets

Forward Gabi Portilho once again commented on the statements made after the clash between Gotham FC and Corinthians in the FIFA Champions Cup, played at the beginning of this year. On the occasion, the player criticized internal situations experienced by the black and white club and stated that Corinthians classification for the competition decision ended up hiding problems faced behind the scenes.
In an interview with ESPN, the former Corinthians number 18 recalled the repercussions of the case, spoke about his departure from the club and stated that he does not regret the statements made at that time. The athlete also highlighted her gratitude for the five years she defended Timão, but indicated dissatisfaction with changes that occurred behind the scenes after her departure.

When commenting on the episode, Portilho stated that some situations experienced by athletes who left the club were not publicly exposed and reinforced that he remains convinced of what he said.
"I think that for a good connoisseur, half a word is enough. I don't like mentioning names because it doesn't suit me, but many statements that have come out recently are also untrue. It's just that the people who left never spoke and never wanted to speak, because we are grateful for the club. But people weren't grateful for that, the changes they made were quite radical and weren't as professional as we would like."
Portilho's statements after the match against Corinthians generated repercussions among fans and also motivated responses from people linked to the club. At the time, midfielder Gabi Zanotti stated that she considered the time inappropriate to raise the issue publicly. Now, months later, the striker said she understands the fans' reaction, but believes that time will clarify the events.
"Since this happened, some people wanted to talk to me, and I replied: there are three truths, mine, theirs and God's. And the truth will appear. One person is no longer there and left. There are many things that happened, but my gratitude remains for everything I experienced over those five years there, with the people who were there. With the committee that made me grow as an athlete, as a person and that achieved everything I had to achieve."
Portilho left Corinthians at the end of the 2024 season. Since then, he has played for Gotham FC and currently plays for the San Diego Wave, both in the United States. Experiencing a new stage in her career, the striker stated that she prefers to focus on the present, although she maintains recognition for the trajectory built at Parque São Jorge.
"I think that after the changes they made things very difficult. So, it's difficult to talk, because I don't want to keep mentioning names. I also don't want to keep talking about it anymore, because my life has already moved on, I'm experiencing new things, different things, learning, maturing, making mistakes, getting things right. But here's my gratitude. I've come a long way with this shirt, so there's no way you can be ungrateful about these things."
Finally, the player once again indicated that not all versions presented publicly about the events reflect the reality she experienced, but she preferred not to delve deeper into the subject.
"And those who aren't also know who they are, because sometimes they say things in interviews that, well, for a good connoisseur, half a word is enough."
Gabi Portilho played for Corinthians between 2020 and 2024 and won titles such as the Libertadores Feminina, the Campeonato Brasileiro, the Campeonato Paulista and the Supercopa do Brasil. Over the period, she became one of the main references of the team and the Brazilian Women's National Team.
