Former base leaders are expelled from Corinthians membership; Claudinei Alves contests decision

The Ethics Committee of Corinthians Associates decided to expel Claudinei Alves and Valmir Costa from the club's membership. According to information gathered by Central do Timão, the definition took place on Monday (8) and an appeal can still be made to the plenary session of the Deliberative Council (CD).
The two former directors worked in the youth football department during the administration of former president Augusto Melo. Claudinei Alves held positions linked to the board of training categories, while Valmir Costa served as assistant director of the base and general secretary of the club.

The decision is related to the events of May 31, 2025, when associates and advisors linked to Augusto Melo were involved in an attempt to reinstate him as president of Corinthians. The episode took place at Parque São Jorge and continues to generate developments in the club's internal bodies.
During the duo's time in the youth department, 87 signings were made for Corinthians' Under-17 and Under-20 categories.
After the decision was announced, Claudinei Alves published a statement on her social networks criticizing the punishment applied by the Ethics Commission. The former leader stated that he did not participate in the invasion of the presidential office and considered the sanction disproportionate.
In the text, Claudinei highlighted his 27 years of association with Corinthians and questioned the fact that he had received the maximum punishment, while, according to him, other people involved in the same events had received warnings or suspensions.
In addition to the demonstration about the expulsion, Claudinei also refuted information published on social media that he would be a possible candidate for president of Corinthians in the next elections. In a post shared in stories, the former director denied any intention of running for the position.
"I regret the lack of information and the dissemination of untruths involving my name. The information that I would be a pre-candidate for the presidency of Corinthians, much less of any group or person, is not true. I have never been and am not a pre-candidate for anyone", he wrote.
The former director also asked for responsibility in the dissemination of information related to the club's political process.
"I respect all political currents and democratic debate within the club, but I ask for responsibility in investigating the facts before publishing any information."
In addition to Claudinei Alves and Valmir Costa, other members of Corinthians political life were also tried due to the events of May 2025. In the same session, counselors Maria Angela Ocampos, Paulo Juricic and Ronaldo Fernandez Tomé had their expulsion approved.
Councilman Mario Mello Junior was also on the trial agenda, but the analysis of his case was postponed after he fell ill before the opinion was read.
The process involving this group would initially be considered on June 1st. At the time, however, only former president Augusto Melo had his case analyzed, culminating in his expulsion from the club's membership.
With the conclusion of the most recent trials, the remaining pending processes will be analyzed in future meetings of the Deliberative Council, which will still have dates defined by the acting president of the body.
