Forgotten PIS/Pasep money: deadline to enter the next batch ends this Tuesday

The deadline for requesting the second batch of payments from the old PIS/Pasep fund ends this Tuesday (30). The withdrawal for those who make the request within the deadline is scheduled for July 27th.
Throughout the year, there are other dates for requests and payments, following a calendar already established by Caixa Econômica Federal.
The old PIS/Pasep fund was used to increase the income of workers with a formal contract and public servants between 1971 and 1988. It is different from the PIS/Pasep salary bonus currently paid.
The worker can check if you have amounts to receive through the Repis Cidadão website or through the FGTS application.

According to the government, the average balance available for withdrawal is R$2,800 per person, but the amount varies depending on the time worked and the salary received at the time. The values are adjusted for inflation.
The Repis Cidadão platform also teaches the procedure for withdrawing money, including specific guidance for heirs, in the event of the beneficiary's death. To access it, you must have a gov.br account at silver or gold levels.
If the refund is not requested by September 2028, the amounts will be definitively incorporated into the National Treasury, without the possibility of withdrawal.

1. How to check if I have forgotten money?

Access the website http://repiscidadao.fazenda.gov.br/;
Click on "enter with gov.br". If you don't have an account in the federal government system, see how to do it here;
Log in with your CPF and password, and click "authorize";
Inform the beneficiary's NIS (Social Identification Number). The number is the same as the PIS and can be found in several places (read more below);
Click "search". And, if you have amounts to receive, the website will guide you on the next steps.
2. How to know the PIS/NIS number?
NIS is the acronym for Social Identification Number. The document is an 11-digit sequence made available by Caixa Econômica Federal.
This registration is necessary both for those who work with a formal contract and for those who want to have access to social programs, such as Bolsa Família.
The NIS and PIS (Social Integration Program) numbers are the same. The difference lies in their origin: while the NIS is generated when someone starts using social benefits, the PIS is generated when the work card is signed for the first time.

FGTS statement: it is possible to check the PIS number within one of the contracts registered in the application.
Citizen Card: the NIS number is identified just below the name of the beneficiary and above the card issuance date.
My INSS: on the website, the NIS number appears as NIT, in the registration data part. Consultations can also be made by calling Social Security (135), from Monday to Saturday, from 7am to 10pm.
CadÚnico: it is possible to find the NIS after filling in personal information on the CadÚnico website or through the app.
3. How to request reimbursement?
The worker can file the reimbursement request at a Caixa Econômica Federal branch or make the request through the FGTS application.
They will need to log in to the app, access the "more" option, "PIS/Pasep reimbursement" and follow the instructions to attach the required documents.
If the request is made by the beneficiary himself, he simply needs to have an official identity document on hand.
In the case of heirs, it will be necessary to present:
PIS/PASEP/FGTS certificate issued by Social Security with the list of dependents eligible for the death pension; or
Declaration of dependents eligible for the pension issued by the body paying the benefit; or
Judicial authorization or public deed signed by all dependents and successors, if capable and in agreement, attesting in writing the authorization of the withdrawal and declaring that there are no other known dependents or successors.
4. When will I receive it?
After the request, Caixa will analyze the request and send the information to the Ministry of Finance. Payment will be made directly to the interested party's bank account at Caixa or through a digital social savings account, according to the following calendar.

5. What is the old PIS/Pasep?
The Social Integration Program (PIS) was created in 1970 to increase the individual savings of workers in the private sector.
Soon afterwards, the Public Servants' Equity Training Program (PASEP) was launched for civil and military public servants, inspired by the same principle.
In 1975, resources from the two programs were transferred to a single fund: the PIS-Pasep Fund, which stopped functioning in 1988, when it was replaced by the current salary bonus.
In 2020, the fund shares that had not been withdrawn were transferred to the Service Time Guarantee Fund (FGTS) and, three years later, to a single National Treasury account.
Since then, Caixa has opened it up for workers with forgotten money in their account to request a refund.
▶ The current salary bonus - a type of 14th salary, worth up to one minimum wage - is paid annually to workers with a formal contract and public servants who meet the program's requirements.
