Forest fire forces residents to leave homes in California

Forest fires hit Riverside County, in the southern US state of California, on Monday (15).

The fire, dubbed the "Shore Fire," reached an estimated area of 830 hectares by midnight local time, according to Cal Fire (California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection).

In a post on the social network X, Cal Fire said that only 20% of the flames have been contained so far.

Evacuation orders were issued in parts of the county, and shelters were set up for displaced residents.

Cal Fire reported that more than 250 people and more than 40 fire trucks were mobilized to fight the fire.

#ShoreFIRE [UPDATE 11:50PM] the fire is mapped at 2,053 acres and 20% contained. Air and ground resources will continue working throughout the evening to build and strengthen containment lines around the fire perimeter.

Evacuation ORDERS and WARNINGS remain in effect.
