Football player and his mother found dead after Venezuela earthquakes

Football player José Pimentel died in the earthquakes that devastated Venezuela last week, his club, Deportivo La Guaira, reported. José's mother, Yurbis Berríos, also died during the earthquakes, according to the team.

José had been missing since the night of June 24, when two almost simultaneous earthquakes of magnitudes 7.5 and 7.2 hit the South American country.
In a statement published on Wednesday (1st), his club stated that he had a "kind soul" and that "his joy and his brightness will live and remain with us forever".
José was in the youth teams of La Guaira, which is one of the main Venezuelan football clubs today. The team did not say how old he was, only that he was born in 2010.

The news of the death of José and his mother came on the 7th day of extensive search work for the approximately 50,000 missing, according to estimates by the UN - after the natural disaster. Venezuelan and international rescue teams are working to search for survivors in the hundreds of buildings that collapsed or completely collapsed during the tremors. More than 2,200 people died and thousands were injured, according to the Venezuelan government.
In its statement, La Guaira also did not state the circumstances or the exact day of the death of José and his mother, however it is possible that their bodies were found by search teams.
