Another consecutive month, the food and beverage group pushes Brazilian inflation upwards, with an increase of 1.33%, indicated by the IPCA (Broad National Consumer Price Index) for May, released this Friday (12) by IBGE.

The country's official inflation was 0.58% in May, slowing down from 0.67% recorded in April. Despite the relief in the general index, food remained the main focus of pressure for the consumer. The Food and Beverages group advanced 1.33% in the month, accounting for the largest contribution to the IPCA result.

Among the products that weighed most on inflation were fresh items and basic foods, reflecting climatic factors, production costs and supply fluctuations. For agribusiness, the result reinforces how the behavior of crops and supply continues to directly influence the cost of living of Brazilians.
