Fog closes Galeão Airport for more than 1 hour and cancels flights in Rio
Galeão International Airport, in Rio de Janeiro, was closed for around an hour and a half, this Friday morning (3), due to intense fog that hit the city.
To date, eight flights that would land at the location have been switched to other airports and another six flights have been cancelled.
According to RIOgaleão, the airport was closed from 6:17 am to 7:44 am this Friday due to intense fog. Now, Galeão is open and operating on instruments.
According to COR (Rio Operations Center), fog was recorded in the Galeão region at 6:12 am. Between 7 am and 8 am, there was a record of humid fog in the area, as well as at Santos Dumont Airport and Afonsos Air Base.
