Flora's family announces departure of Corinthians jewel and snipes at the club

Corinthians lost one of its names with the most spotlight in the youth categories, the athlete Lucas Flora, 12 years old, is leaving Alvinegro.

Through a letter sent to ESPN, the young player's father, Flávio Flora, explains that the decision comes after wear and tear involving issues such as lack of performance and internal uncertainty, which were seen as neglect. The report explains that the club was notified about the athlete's parents' decision to leave.

In the document, Flávio mentions that the young athlete Flora was not registered in any of the club's base competitions in 2026, including the Campeonato Paulista. The family claims to have been informed internally that the lack of registration was due to administrative failures and communication problems in managing documentation for the youth categories. However, it alleges that the club publicly presented another justification, making the player's registration conditional on the renunciation of the current image contract in order to sign a training contract.

"We remained silent throughout this period out of respect for our son and also for the moment the club is experiencing. However, given the countless questions from fans and the circulation of information that does not reflect the reality of the facts, we believe it is necessary to clarify the situation with transparency and respect.

In 2026, Flora was not listed for any competition in his category and was also not registered in the Campeonato Paulista, the main tournament for the country's youth categories, in any club category.

In addition, we found that, since December last year, the athlete has not had an active connection with the CBF and the São Paulo Football Federation with Corinthians. Even though all the documentation was submitted on time, the athlete's registration was not renewed, leaving him without a formal sporting link with the club.

In a meeting, we were informed that the lack of registration was due to internal failures and communication problems involving those responsible for documentation of the youth categories.

Publicly, however, another version was presented: that the athlete would only be registered if the family gave up the current image contract and then signed a training contract, under the allegation that the club would not be able to fulfill the previous agreement.

It is important to clarify that there was already an understanding between the parties that any negotiations involving a training contract or financial issues would only occur when Flora turned 14, in 2028, and not now, at 12 years of age.

The information that the family had demanded the athlete's participation in shirt launch campaigns also does not correspond to reality. Especially because the image contract was offered by the club itself, which saw potential in the use of the athlete's image, which is also sponsored by the same sporting equipment supplier as Corinthians.

Even in the face of the lack of registration and the difficulties faced in the process, the family kept all their commitments, taking Flora daily to training and other club activities, always believing in the training process and in their son's dream.

Throughout these years, we have always prioritized our son's desires and choices, leaving aside other possibilities that could be more advantageous for his career. Still, the club makes mistakes again in its training process.

We cannot allow such an important period in a child's life to be lost amidst repeated mistakes.

Before becoming a Corinthians player, Flora must have guaranteed the right to be a football player. And today, unfortunately, this right has been compromised by the lack of the minimum conditions necessary for him to be able to do what he loves most: play football.

We hope that those responsible are more aware of the impact of situations like this, which not only affect the dreams of children and families, but also compromise the formation of potential assets for the club itself.

We know that, given the greatness of Corinthians, any position or justification from those responsible will naturally have more force than the word of a family. Still, we believe it is important to clarify the facts with respect and honesty.

We also sincerely hope that the family's decision to continue, until now, without businesspeople leading Flora's career, has not influenced, in any way, the management of this situation.

It's been six years honoring this shirt with pride. Unfortunately, this story did not follow the path our little one dreamed of, but we continue to believe that life can still hold new paths and new opportunities in the future. Who knows!

Regardless of this entire situation, we are grateful to Corinthians as an institution, to its history and to its loyal fans of millions of passionate fans, just like us, who the club represents. We continue to hope that it will overcome this moment and experience better days again, because Corinthians will always be the people's heritage.

In 2024, Lucas almost left Corinthians, and was even linked to rival Palmeiras. After a turnaround, however, the boy remained in the team he had defended since 2021.
