Flávio's ally in Ceará rebuts Michelle and cites Bolsonaro's support for Ciro

State deputy Alcides Fernandes (PL) criticized the video published by former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro (PL) last Wednesday (24) and stated that the support of the PL (Liberal Party) for the pre-candidacy of Ciro Gomes (PSDB) for the government of Ceará has the approval of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

According to Alcides, father of federal deputy André Fernandes (PL-CE) - who was at the forefront of the political arrangement with Ciro -, Michelle's video is "unfortunate", contains "unfounded allegations" and "only served to be used by the PT to echo its speeches and interests".

In addition to making accusations against her stepson, the senator and pre-candidate for Planalto Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), Michelle criticized the PL's support for Ciro and questioned Alcides' pre-candidacy for the Senate.

However, the Ceará parliamentarian claims that the local PL's alliance with Ciro "was not done in secret" and had the support of Bolsonaro.

"The alliance was not my idea, nor was it done secretly, as Michelle's video suggests. Everything was built in broad daylight, collectively, together with our base. To say that this [the alliance] was done behind President Bolsonaro's back, at a time when he cannot give an opinion, is to be untruthful", declared Alcides.

"The beginning of this dialogue, back there, had the vision, political calculation and approval of President Bolsonaro himself. This is public and irrefutable. I am fully aware of all the problems that happened in the past between Ciro and Bolsonaro. I am not naive, politics is tough", he added.

Also according to Alcides, Michelle is trying to nominate Fortaleza councilwoman Priscila Costa as a PL pre-candidate for the Senate. This would be one of the reasons why the former first lady decided to record Wednesday's video.

"On April 14th, in a closed meeting between you, Altineu [Côrtes], André [Fernandes] and Valdemar [Costa Neto], you said that you would agree to form an alliance with Ciro as long as your nominee for the Senate was placed on the ticket. Are the values really non-negotiable or was all this fuss against us and this enormous damage to Flávio's campaign just an attempt to create chaos and impose your particular will?", he asked Alcides.

The AtlasIntel/Focus survey released on the 17th shows Alcides scoring between 13% and 15.8% (depending on the scenario tested), numerically behind senator Cid Gomes (PSB), former federal deputy Captain Wagner (União Brasil) and federal deputy Luizianne Lins (Rede).

"Why should someone with my life experience, who built this candidacy with the entire party, who scored better in research and won the position on merit, retreat to personal imposition? Is it because I don't please the private will of someone who barely knows an inch of our state? Or because I don't serve the individual interests of these people", concluded Alcides.
