Flamengo reacts, but is tied with River Plate in a friendly

Flamengo opened the interseason with a busy draw against River Plate. This Friday (3), at the Algarve Stadium, in Portugal, the team led by Leonardo Jardim finished 2-2 with the Argentine club, in a match valid for the Algarve Trophy.

After going behind early on, Rubro-Negro reacted in the first half with goals from Bruno Henrique and Samuel Lino, but saw Driussi score twice for River Plate and level the score.

The Brazilian team encountered difficulties in the opening minutes and were punished in the seventh minute, when a mistake by Jorginho when passing the ball ended in Driussi's first goal. The answer came after the hydration stop. Samuel Lino hit a beautiful shot to equalize, and, shortly after, Bruno Henrique turned the score around with another outstanding goal.

The advantage, however, was short-lived. In the 37th minute, Driussi appeared again, took advantage of space in the red-black defense and scored his second of the match, bringing the match to half-time.

In the final stage, the pace decreased. Leonardo Jardim took advantage of the friendly nature of the match to promote several changes and observe the squad. Everton Cebolinha was among the players involved and was threatened in one of Flamengo's main attacks, while goalkeeper Andrew replaced Rossi to gain minutes on the field.

Despite attempts from both sides, neither team managed to find the net again, and the South American classic ended in a draw in Portugal.

Flamengo returns to the field for the Algarve Trophy next Tuesday (8), when they face Lausanne-Sport, from Switzerland. The last match in the tournament will be against Benfica, on July 11th. After the visit to Portugal, Rubro-Negro faces Olimpia, on July 17, before resuming the season's official competitions.
