Direct opponents in the fight for the top of the Brasileirão table, Flamengo and Palmeiras face each other this Saturday (23), at Maracanã, for the 17th round of the competition.

Palmeiras leads the standings with 35 points. Just behind is Flamengo, the current Brazilian champion, with 31 points and one game in hand. If they win in front of their fans, the Rio team will reduce the difference to just one point and will still have one match pending.

In retrospect of clashes for the Brasileirão, the advantage belongs to Rubro-Negro. Flamengo has 24 wins, against Palmeiras' 22 triumphs, as well as 27 draws.

This Saturday's classic will be the first meeting between the clubs in 2026. Last season, the teams faced each other twice in the Brasileirão, and Flamengo won both.

Considering other competitions, the rivals also competed in the Libertadores final, with the red and black title.

At Maracanã, recent history also favors the locals: Palmeiras have not beaten their rivals at the stadium since December 2015.
