Fire in Guarulhos caused collapse and column of smoke

The fire that hit a commercial warehouse on Friday night (5) on Rua Guaporé, in the Itapegica neighborhood in Guarulhos, in Greater São Paulo, caused a collapse and generated a large column of smoke throughout the region. So far, there are no records of victims.

According to the state Civil Defense, the flames caused the roof and part of the building's walls to collapse. Until the last update, the perimeter of the site was isolated by the Municipal Protection and Civil Defense Coordination.

The images recorded show the size of the smoke that formed in the area. In videos obtained by CNN Brasil, it is possible to see the extensive gray layer that spread across the sky surrounding the incident. See below:

The warehouse is located in the middle of a plot of land and there are no buildings nearby. According to the Fire Department, 14 vehicles are on site with 38 officers from the corporation to respond to the incident.

Firefighters reported that the materials at the scene were PVC pipes. The teams said that the flames have already been controlled, but not extinguished, and are already in the aftermath phase. The fire was reported at around 8:30 pm.

The location indicated by the corporation corresponds to a distributor identified as SOEDRAL Electrical and Hydraulic Materials.

The causes of the fire have not yet been reported. CNN Brasil tries to contact the distributor.
