Fire hits New Zealand capital airport and diverts flights
A fire hit Wellington Airport, in the capital of New Zealand, this Friday (12), forcing flight evacuations and diversions.
A spokesperson for New Zealand Fire and Emergency said crews were fighting the fire alongside firefighters from the airport itself.
According to him, five firefighting vehicles, two ladder trucks and a command center were at the scene, adding that they could not say what was on fire.
Wellington Airport said in a statement that the southwest pier and main terminal had been evacuated and there were no injuries.
"Flights to Wellington have been temporarily diverted and passengers are advised to check with their airline for specific flight information," the statement said.
