The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro published, on their social networks, tips on how to identify fake stickers from the 2026 World Cup album, after the seizure of a large batch of fakes this Thursday (21).

On Thursday night, agents seized 200,000 counterfeit World Cup album stickers in Nova Iguaçu, in Baixada Fluminense.

In the video, the delegate points out that the stickers have a price set by the publisher, so consumers should be suspicious if they find a package being sold cheaper.

It is still possible to observe a big difference in the quality of the prints, the counterfeits are more opaque. In addition, their packaging paper is porous and thicker.

In addition to the stickers, the police also collected thousands of illicitly produced t-shirts and caps from the Brazilian team.

The police officers located a group that was leaving with illegal cargo from Nova Iguaçu destined for other municipalities in Rio, probably for sale. According to the corporation, the seized material will be rendered useless after undergoing forensic examination.

The investigations were conducted by the Office for the Suppression of Crimes Against Intangible Property and continue to identify manufacturers and distributors of counterfeit merchandise.
