Financial Acrobatics: challenges faced by Brazilians to balance their accounts
Keeping accounts in balance continues to be a daily challenge for millions of Brazilians. The "Financial Acrobatics" survey, carried out by Consumoteca at the request of Inter, shows that improvising has become routine for a large part of the population, regardless of income level.
The survey shows that 91% of respondents feel the need to learn more about finances, while less than 30% say they have an organized financial life. Furthermore, only 23% manage to save money regularly, which highlights the difficulty of transforming income into financial stability. The data also reveals how the lack of planning and financial education makes long-term decisions difficult.
The main challenges in balancing the accounts
Research shows that the difficulties vary according to the economic reality of each social class. In classes C and D, the main focus is on ensuring basic expenses, such as food, housing and essential bills. Among classes A and B, the concern is more linked to maintaining the standard of living and the burden of long-term financing. The main challenges identified in the study:
- Difficulty creating financial reserves;
- Dependence on credit in times of stress;
- Lack of predictability in spending;
- Pressure to maintain consumption standards;
- Low capacity for long-term planning;
- Constant feeling of financial insecurity.
How Brazilians deal with financial education
Interviewees recognize that understanding more about money can directly help in organizing accounts and building a more stable financial life. According to research:
- 6 out of 10 people believe that learning more about finance would help solve financial problems;
- 86% advocate creating an emergency fund before starting to invest;
- 54% still see investments as something far from reality.
This scenario reinforces how financial education is still seen as a challenge in the country. For many people, investing continues to seem exclusive to those who already have a surplus of income, even with accessible alternatives to start organizing their finances. Furthermore, the short-term behavior caused by financial pressure makes future planning and wealth building difficult.
How credit creates insecurity for Brazilians
Another point highlighted by the research is the relationship between Brazilians and credit. Despite being an important tool for dealing with emergencies and consumption, many people still face difficulties understanding approval criteria and financial management. The survey shows that:
- 50% of respondents have already been denied credit without understanding the reason;
- 63% say that learning strategies to increase the limit and improve their financial profile would help their relationship with banks.
With more than 41 million customers, Inter has been expanding solutions aimed at financial education and monitoring financial life within the Super App. Among the initiatives is Meu Crédito, a tool that brings together information such as:
- Credit score;
- Income update;
- Debt situation;
- Personalized guidance;
- Tips for limit expansion;
- Information about financial profile.
Data from the Financial Acrobatics survey make it clear that Brazilians intend to learn more about money, but still face difficulties in transforming knowledge into practice. With access to information, planning and simpler financial control tools, the tendency is for improvisation to give way to more conscious and sustainable decisions in the long term.
