Finance Minister says that people and companies targeted by US sanctions were already being investigated: 'interference worries us'

The Minister of Finance, Dario Durigan, said this Friday (3) in an exclusive interview with g1 that the targets of sanctions applied by the United States for alleged links with criminal factions had already been investigated in Brazil "for some time" and that the "interference" of Donald Trump's administration is a concern.
The Federal Police (PF) today carried out an operation to dismantle a criminal organization specializing in money laundering from international drug trafficking.

In total, the PF issued 11 temporary arrest warrants. Among those arrested is Stella Stefanie Nunes Henrique de Oliveira, who last Wednesday (1st) was sanctioned by the USA for alleged involvement with the First Command of the Capital (PCC).
Businessman Victor Henrique de Oliveira Shimada, also the target of sanctions from the American government, is among those wanted by the PF, but is on the run.
"These companies were already being investigated in Brazil, by the Federal Police, by the [Federal] Revenue. We already knew, there is nothing new. Today the police are carrying out an operation, which means that the investigation has been ongoing for a while," said Durigan.
This was the first round of economic sanctions announced by the US against targets they believe to be related to criminal factions after classifying them as international terrorist groups, in June.
"These organizations are, in fact, very bad and cause social terror in Brazil. And then, what we are left in doubt, both we and the Brazilian population, is what will be done with this. And this space of attack, this space of interference by the United States in Brazil, without us knowing exactly what is intended with this, is which concerns us", stated Durigan.
According to the Minister of Finance, Brazil is open to providing information on individuals suspected of involvement with criminal factions, but expects, in return, that the United States will provide information to Brazilian investigators.
"In these cases now, specifically, there was an exchange of information. The Brazilian authority itself informed the United States government what was happening here. The people who were already investigating and punishing these people and these companies", declared the minister.
