US President Donald Trump said this Saturday (23) that a peace agreement with Iran has been "broadly negotiated", and final details are expected to be announced "soon".

In a post on the social network Truth Social, the American president stated that he spoke with Gulf leaders, together with Pakistan, about the war against Iran and a "Memorandum of Understanding on Peace".

According to Trump, the opening of the Strait of Hormuz is among the elements of the agreement.

The American president added that he also spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in what he described as a "very productive conversation."

Among the nations mentioned by Trump are Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain and Pakistan, mediator of the negotiations.

Conversation with leaders
Earlier, a source familiar with the matter had anticipated information that Trump was talking to leaders from the Gulf and other countries in the region to analyze Iran's most recent proposal to end the war.

At the same time, mediators left meetings in Tehran suggesting that the parties had made progress toward a possible preliminary agreement.

Trump, in a phone interview with Axios, described the chances of a deal with Iran as "a solid 50-50" ahead of the call with regional leaders, adding that he could decide by Sunday whether to resume military action against Iran.

The president said negotiations could result in a "good" deal or lead to the US deciding to "blow the hell out of them."

Why is the Strait of Hormuz so important to the world economy?
