Film with Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal disappoints at the box office

The film "In the Gray Zone", which stars Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal as a pair of agents, performed poorly at its premiere. Directed by Guy Ritchie, the production was launched last Thursday (14) and has had low revenue.

In the plot, Cavill is Sid and Gyllenhaal is Bronco, who work together with lawyer Rachel Wild (Eiza González) to recover R$5 billion from a crime boss, who has taken refuge on a heavily protected private island. The film also stars Rosamund Pike as a financial tycoon.

According to the website Box Office Mojo, which publishes the box office figures of films in theaters, "In the Gray Zone" grossed almost US$3 million, the equivalent of around R$14 million a week after its release in the United States.

Filmed in 2023, "Na Zona Cinzenta" remained in the drawer for a while and needed to be re-edited. The filming locations were Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, Spain, the largest of the Canary Islands, and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Locals have tax incentives for film productions. In the international press, the production of filmmaker Ritchie ("Snatch - Pigs and Diamonds" and "Tycoons of Crime") has been receiving criticism.

The American magazine Variety said that the film was shallow, uninnovative, generic and with artificial characters. On the website Deadline, which specializes in cinema, the plot was described as a war of disappointment.
