This Thursday afternoon (25), Corinthians faced Flamengo, at the Alfredo Schürig Stadium, Fazendinha, in a match valid for the 18th and penultimate round of the classification phase of the 2026 Brazilian Under-20 Championship, and drew 2 x 2. Timãozinho's goals were scored by defender Yago Melo and defender Nicolas Araújo. The equality caused the Corinthians team to fall from sixth to eighth place with 29 points - eight wins, five draws and five defeats - 31 goals scored and 24 conceded.

Those who watched the match from one of the boxes at Fazendinha were the coach of the professional team, Fernando Diniz, and members of Timão's football department, such as executive Marcelo Paz, manager Júlio de César and administrative coordinator Thiago Ayres. The presence of professionals highlights the importance of integration and observation processes between the base and the main team.

Corinthians' professional squad performed again at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava this Thursday due to the holiday period due to the World Cup break, which takes place between June 11th and July 19th, in the United States, Mexico and Canada. The technical committee, directors and employees returned to the training center last Wednesday (24). The last time Timão entered the field was on May 30th, when they beat Grêmio, in the South, 3 x 1, in the 18th round of the Brasileirão.

Officially, the Parque São Jorge club will only return to the pitch on July 23rd, at 7:30 pm (Brasília time), when they will face Remo, at Neo Química Arena, in the last round of the first round of the Brasileirão. At this moment, Alvinegro occupies tenth place with 24 points - six wins, six draws and six defeats - 18 goals scored and 19 conceded. Before that, however, they will play a friendly against FC Cascavel, at the Estádio Municipal Arnaldo Busato, in Cascavel, Paraná, at 4pm, on July 12th.

In addition to the Brasileirão, Corinthians also has decisions in the knockout stages. In the Copa do Brasil, the Parque São Jorge club will face Internacional in two games in the round of 16. The first takes place on August 2nd, at 7:30 pm, in Beira-Rio. The second, in turn, four days later, at 8 pm, at Neo Química Arena. It is worth remembering that Corinthians has four tournament titles and is the current champion, as they beat Vasco last year, playing at Maracanã.

In Conmebol Libertadores, the opponent will be Rosário Central, from Argentina. The first game takes place on August 13th, at 9:30 pm, in Buenos Aires. The second match is scheduled for exactly one week later, at the same time, at Neo Química Arena. If you qualify, your opponent in the quarterfinals will be Estudiantes, from Argentina, or Universidad Católica, from Chile.

Júlio César, football manager, spoke to Central do Timão

After experience as a manager at RB Bragantino, Júlio César was hired by Corinthians in April to be part of the football department. Revealed at Timão's base and present in the club's important achievements in the professional squad between 2005 and mid-2014, he gave an interview to the reporter and spoke about his work at the club so far and the integration processes with the base.

"I stay very close to the technical committee, also making that connection with athletes and management. I'm happy, a lot of things to do, a lot of things being done. The work doesn't stop, this integration with the base here is super important. So, with a lot of things ahead being planned and the work continues to live on."

"My dream when I played here for Corinthians, is the dream that they have too, I think the same doubts, desires. So, I think it helps the experience a lot, it's obvious that there is a working place up to date, I try to be close to them, guidance, talk, being close to the games too, which is important to see that they deserve to talk to the people there. So, I think it's a work that completes itself, the experience of having already been through this, of helping the boys who are there and talking to people."

In 140 games for Corinthians, he was part of the conquests of the Campeonato Brasileiro (2005 and 2011), Libertadores (2012), Mundial (2012), Campeonato Paulista (2009 and 2013), Série B (2008) and Recopa Sul-Americana (2013).

Check out Júlio César's post below commenting on the professional cast's return to activities and citing the basis:

We're back to training with the professional team, I wanted to share some of my work these last few days with you.

1- While observing the base, I was able to watch some training and some games, mainly for the Under-17s and Under-20s.

2- Professionally, today we resume work in the CT. I was here a few days ago to accompany some recovering athletes* and start planning.

3- I also took advantage of the period for some studies and updates, to rest a little and to watch World Cup games. At the Arena, I was able to watch Brazil's women's game against the USA.

Let's move forward with this recovery and may it be a great second semester.
