Fernanda Torres wins lifetime achievement award at Italian festival

Actress Fernanda Torres, 60, was honored at the Taormina Film Festival, with the Achievement Award, which honored her for her lifetime achievement. "I'm Still Here" is part of the event's film selection and was screened there.

The event took place in Sicily, Italy, and she received the award from the festival's editing director, Tiziana Rocca, and Italian actress Donatella Finocchiaro. For the occasion, the Brazilian chose a sophisticated jumpsuit with a structured top and fluid pleated pants by Armani, from the Fall 2026 collection, in a charcoal gray tone.

She also participated in the "Mulheres Além do Olhar" panel, alongside jury president Jane Campion and judges Holly Hunter, costume designer Miyako Bellizzi, casting director Francine Maisler, global head Amazon MGM Studios, Sue Kroll, actress Anne Valle and director Francesca Archibugi.

Fernanda opined that the best way for women to gain more space in the film industry market is for more women to be behind productions. "The important thing is not to wait for invitations, because the market will be pro-men and with all these problems, and I think the difference is in having someone direct or, mainly, if we start producing. That's what we need to do to change the market and not just complain that it is for men", declared the Brazilian.
