Federal revenue breaks new record in April and reaches R$278 billion
Federal revenue in April reached R$278 billion, breaking a new record and being the best performance in the historical series for the period. The value represents an increase of 7.82% compared to April 2025.
The data was released this Thursday (20) by the RFB (Federal Revenue of Brazil). According to the agency, in the accumulated period from January to April 2026, revenue reached R$1.05 trillion, representing a real increase of 5.41%. It is also the best result in the historical series for a first four-month period.
The Revenue explains that the increase observed in the period can be attributed mainly to the growth in the collection of social security contributions, and the performance of PIS/Cofins, IRRF-Capital and IOF collections.
According to the Revenue, revenue from IRPJ (Corporate Income Tax) and CSLL (Social Contribution on Net Profit) totaled R$64.893 billion, representing real growth of 7.73%.
Social Security Revenue collected R$62.7 billion, with real growth of 4.83%. According to the RFB, the result was due to the real growth of 3.61% in the wage bill in March 2026 in relation to March 2025, and the 9.18% increase in the collection of Simples Nacional social security in April 2026 in relation to the same month in 2025.

The RFB also points out that the staggered re-encumbrance of employers' contributions from municipalities and payroll, starting in January 2025, also contributes to the good result of Social Security Revenue.
The IRRF (Income Tax Withheld at Source) on Capital Income presented a collection of R$ 13.2 billion, with real growth of 25.45%. The result is due to a nominal increase of 28.40% in revenue from Fixed Income Investments for individuals and legal entities, and a 94.74% growth in revenue from JCP (Interest on Own Capital).
