Two federal police officers were hit by firearms fired by an investigated military police officer, this Thursday (2), during the execution of a judicial search and seizure warrant in the municipality of Passo Fundo, in Rio Grande do Sul.

The Federal Police carried out the operation with the aim of dismantling a financial system used to support a scheme to smuggle goods from Miami, in the United States.

According to the Military Brigade, the military police officer allegedly fired a firearm at a federal police officer while executing the court order against his wife.

The agents were treated and taken to the hospital. One of them was released, and the other remains hospitalized.

The incident remains ongoing and is being investigated by the Federal Police. The person responsible for the shooting was arrested in the act and the General Inspectorate of the Military Brigade is monitoring the case.

In the action, 9 search and seizure warrants were executed, 56 property seizure orders were issued, in addition to ordering measures to block the bank accounts of 38 individuals and legal entities under investigation. In total, the blocked amounts can reach R$28 million.

Investigations indicate that the criminal organization's activities originated in Santana do Livramento and would be responsible for coordinating the irregular internalization of goods in Brazil across the border with Uruguay. According to investigations, part of the group operated in Miami, where the scheme's products came from.
