Faustão: remember the presenter's complete health history
Presenter Faustão, 76, was admitted last Monday (26) to Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein for a procedure that had been scheduled for a few months.
According to the advisory, the procedure was to remove the gastric tube and he should be discharged in the next few days. "Everything is under control and clinical normality", added the press note.
But the presenter has been hospitalized and has undergone four transplants in recent years.
Remember Fausto Silva's health history:
In August 2023, the presenter experienced a worsening of heart failure, a condition that occurs when the heart is unable to pump blood through the arteries and circulatory system to other organs and tissues in the body, which led him to need an organ transplant. He had been dealing with the diagnosis since 2020.
On the 27th of the same month, he managed to get a compatible donated heart and it was transplanted. Ten days after being discharged from surgery, Faustão was hospitalized again due to postoperative complications.
As is common for heart transplant patients, the presenter had compromised kidney function. Added to the worsening of a chronic kidney condition, the presenter needed a kidney transplant in February 2024, which led to a 53-day hospital stay.
A few weeks after the second transplant, he was hospitalized again for an embolization to deal with a lymphatic condition that was delaying his recovery. The procedure is characterized by being a minimally invasive surgery, with the aim of purposely interrupting the flow of blood or lymph to a location in the body.
In January 2025, Faustão was hospitalized again to treat an infection. In May of the same year, he was hospitalized again with an acute bacterial infection, characterized as "sepsis" - a set of serious manifestations in the patient that can lead to potentially fatal organ dysfunction.
The condition led to him being hospitalized for around two months. Upon achieving clinical stabilization, Faustão needed to undergo two more transplants: a liver transplant, carried out on August 6, and a kidney retransplant, carried out the following day, as the previous organ showed signs of rejection and a new procedure had been planned for over a year.
