The family members of pastor Romildo Batista de Lima, 69 years old, resident of Uberlândia, in the Triângulo Mineiro, who is among the victims of the earthquake that hit Venezuela, started a campaign to raise R$50,000 to transport his body to Brazil.

According to the announcement, the family is unable to cover all the costs that the procedure requires.

"We are in contact with the Brazilian Embassy and the Venezuelan authorities, but the costs involved in international transfer, documentation, fees, transportation and other required procedures are high and beyond what the family can bear alone at this time" they pointed out.

To date, only R$1,052.50 has been raised.

"For this reason, we humbly ask for your help. Any amount contributed will be used in full to cover the cost of transporting our uncle Romildo's body to Uberlândia, so that he can be laid to rest and buried with dignity with his family and the community that loved him so much. Romildo was a pastor, husband, uncle, friend and a reference of faith for many. We ask that you help us bring him home", they said in the campaign description.

Romildo's niece reported that her uncle's body is already on its way to Brazil, but that the assistance provided by the embassy was in relation to the necessary documentation.

"My uncle's body is already on its way to Brazil. The entire process was made possible without support from Itamaraty. We received very important support from the Embassy, which has helped us with all the necessary documentation. The crowdfunding remains active to help pay for the transfer and, mainly, to support Carla, his wife, who remains hospitalized awaiting surgery. The body is expected to arrive in Brazil this week, but, at the moment, we do not have confirmation of the exact date", he told CNN Brasil.
