Family Farming Harvest Plan 2026/2027 will have R$ 97.3 billion

The federal government announced this Tuesday (30) the Family Farming Harvest Plan 2026/2027, with R$97.3 billion allocated to rural credit, agricultural insurance, public purchases, technical assistance and rural extension, among other policies aimed at the segment.

Of this volume, R$85.2 billion will be directed to the National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture (Pronaf), the sector's main line of financing.

According to the government, the volume represents an increase of almost 9% compared to the previous plan.

According to the Minister of Agrarian Development and Family Farming, Fernanda Machiaveli, the program expands the reach of public policies and reduces credit costs to stimulate food production.

Lower interest rates for basic foods
One of the main novelties of the 2026/2027 harvest is the reduction in Pronaf Costing interest rates to encourage the production of foods considered essential for domestic supply.

The rate for financing basic food production fell from 3% to 2% per year. Operations aimed at agroecological systems, organic production and socio-biodiversity products will have interest of 1% per year, compared to the 2% previously charged.

According to the government, the measure seeks to expand the production of items such as rice, beans, cassava, fruits, vegetables, milk and other foods present in Brazilians' basic food basket.

Expanding access to credit
In addition to increasing resources and reducing financing rates, the Safra Plan envisages measures to expand access to Pronaf lines for women, rural youth and families settled under agrarian reform.

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Farming, the objective is to strengthen family farming, expand food production and encourage sustainable practices, contributing to food security and adapting production to climate change.
