George Russell, a Mercedes driver, received a fine of five thousand euros (approximately R$29 thousand) for his reaction after his car broke down during the Canadian Formula 1 GP, held this Sunday (24). The punishment, however, was suspended for 12 months, on the condition that something similar does not happen in the future.

The Englishman threw the car's headrest onto the ground after the vehicle's mechanical failure resulted in him having to abandon the stage.

The break occurred during the dispute for the lead of the race with his teammate, Kimi Antonelli. With the abandonment of the GP, Russell saw the Italian open up a 43-point lead in the Drivers' World Championship.

Apology
Russell used social media this Monday (25) to apologize to the race stewards and the International Automobile Federation (FIA) for what happened in Canada.

"Apologies to the stewards and the FIA for making their job more difficult than it needed to be. Too much emotion at the moment," wrote the Brit.
