F1 Canadian GP: Russell takes pole in the sprint in a Mercedes one-two

George Russell put Mercedes in pole position for the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix sprint race this Friday (22). Kimi Antonelli, your teammate and current leader of the main motorsport category, will start alongside you on the front row.

"This is great after a tough Miami, but I never doubted myself. I know what I'm capable of. It feels like you're driving a real F1 car here, as it should be. Today everything fell into place," said Russell.

Lando Norris, McLaren driver and current Formula 1 champion, qualified in third place overall, with his teammate Oscar Piastri in fourth place. The event is held at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.

"After this morning, we were a little worried about how far behind we were, due to the lack of confidence in the car. We made some adjustments and it seems like there's been a good improvement. It wasn't the best lap, but looking at the gap to the guys in front, there wasn't much else we could do," said Norris.

Afterwards, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, both from Ferrari, will start, respectively, in fifth and sixth place in the race that takes place this Saturday (23), starting at 1pm (Brasília time). Gabriel Bortoleto, the only Brazilian on the grid, finished the qualifier in 12th place.

Antonelli, winner of the last three GPs, leads the championship with 100 points achieved. George Russell appears close behind, with 80, while Leclerc rounds out the top-3 with 59. Bortoleto is 15th overall, thanks to two points from the Australian Grand Prix, the first of the season.
