Extreme heat: Paris Pride parade postponed until September

The organizers of the Paris Pride Parade postponed the event, originally scheduled for this Saturday (27), until September, after the police ordered the cancellation (under penalty of ban) due to the heat wave that has overwhelmed emergency services and hospitals in the French capital.

The annual event usually attracts thousands of people to the city streets.

The organizers announced the date change on social media this Friday (26).

Police issued the same order for the Solidays music festival and an athletics competition at the Charlety stadium.

Solidays organizers have also canceled the event, according to BFMTV, a French CNN affiliate.

Organizers of the athletics competition did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but had stated on Thursday (25) that the event would go ahead as planned, with adaptations for the heat.
