In a statement, Ceará Sporting Club said it repudiates the acts against the president. "This is not the first time that the president and his family have been targets of actions of this nature. These events reveal what is most reprehensible in our society and use football as a pretext for committing crimes such as threats, insults, persecution, exposure to danger and undue exposure of private life."

Also according to the club, an investigation was opened by the Police Station for the Repression of Organized Criminal Actions (Draco) to investigate the facts and take action.
To CNN Brasil, the Civil Police of the State of Ceará (PCCE) reported that it is investigating the crime of threat, which occurred in the Joaquim Távora neighborhood.
Political pressure
The sending of the explosive occurs amid a context of political pressure in Ceará, with demonstrations by the opposition and fans against João Paulo's mandate. Among the most recent cases, at the end of May a protest organized in front of the Vozão headquarters ended in confusion and intervention by the Military Police.
Days later, the Public Prosecutor's Office classified what happened as incitement to violence and acts of disorder, which resulted in punishment for the organized fans and suspension of five other fans, including club advisors and opposition leaders.
