Expert: Material on Vorcaro cell phones has immediate impact
To WW, Rafael Favetti, partner at Fatto Intelligence Politics, analyzed the political impact of the material found on the cell phones of former banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of the Master bank.
According to the expert, everything that was published using these devices produces immediate effects on the Brazilian political scene.
Favetti highlighted that the material released to the public, coming from Vorcaro's cell phones, has generated concrete political responses to each new revelation.
"The material, at least what we already know, that was published on Vorcaro's cell phones, does have an immediate political impact," said the expert.
He added that, every time some content is released, politics responds, even influencing the popularity of candidates, as observed in the last four or five weeks.
Centralization and role of investigations
When asked about the existence of a central control body over the facts investigated, Favetti acknowledged that crossed interests are common in any type of investigation.
For him, the apparent lack of centralization is illusory, as there is a figure who concentrates this role.
The expert pointed out that this centralization falls to the minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) André Mendonça, responsible for two of the biggest investigations underway in the country - including that of the INSS -, both with a strong political impact.
"André Mendonça becomes, evidently, a variable for the elections, a variable for the institutions", said Favetti.
Favetti also highlighted the role of the Federal Police in conducting investigations.
According to him, it is the PF that dictates the pace of investigations, as it holds the experts, delegates and agents responsible for the investigative work.
The reporting minister would be responsible for offering the appropriate timing and deciding on the requests made by the corporation.
The expert also recalled that, when responsibility for the case passed to André Mendonça, there was an expectation that the pace of the investigation would be more agile, especially given the possibility of the Federal Police appointing its own experts - which, according to him, actually happened.
