Even with Pacheco's withdrawal, PSB decides that it will have a candidate in MG

One week after senator Rodrigo Pacheco (PSB-MG) confirmed the end of the "cycle in politics" and ruled out a possible candidacy for the government of Minas Gerais, the PSB announced that it will still have its own candidate for governor of the state. The decision was taken at a meeting of the party's state executive held this Wednesday (3).

In an official statement, the party informed that there are four names in the dispute. They are: the former attorney general of Minas Gerais Jarbas Soares Júnior; the former president of AMM (Minas Gerais Association of Municipalities) Julvan Lacerda; the businessman and former president of Fiesp (Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo) Josué Gomes; and the former senator of the Republic and former vice-governor of Minas Gerais Clésio Andrade.

"The PSB understands that Minas Gerais needs to regain national protagonism through a development project capable of stimulating economic growth, generating opportunities, strengthening municipalities, expanding investments in health, education and infrastructure, encouraging innovation, modernizing public management and reducing regional inequalities", says the note.

The results of the caucuses should be published in July, the deadline for party conventions. Pacheco was President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's (PT) favorite to run for governor of Minas. The president is looking for a strong platform in the state, which is the second largest electoral college in the country, in the dispute for re-election.

The national president of the PT, Edinho Silva, had been meeting with local leaders in search of a solution.

The acronym even considered names of its own, even for those who already have other electoral plans. The list included: the former mayor of Contagem, Marília Campos, federal deputies Reginaldo Lopes and Rogério Correia, as well as the former minister of Human Rights, Macaé Evaristo.
