European Union warns against flying in the airspace of Iran, Iraq and Lebanon

EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) advised airlines this Wednesday (8) to avoid the airspace of Iran, Iraq and Lebanon due to regional tensions.

The warning was made after an exchange of attacks between the USA and Iran this Tuesday (7) and statements by American President Donald Trump, stating that the ceasefire between the two countries was "over".

The American leader also threatened to attack and take Kharg Island, a strategic point for the Islamic Republic.

On Tuesday, the Iranian government launched attacks against three tankers traveling through the Strait of Hormuz. According to the regime, the vessels passed through an unauthorized route, close to Oman, one of the countries acting as mediators in the conflict.

US Central Command also confirmed that it carried out a series of attacks against Iran on the same day. Among the targets were more than 60 small Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps vessels.

EASA said its guidelines are valid until August 31, "unless revised sooner."

The agency said implementation of the ceasefire is fragile and tensions are high. EASA said its flight warning is based on the "high level of ongoing tensions and the current situation."
