European stock markets close mixed with defense and aviation sectors on the rise
European stock markets closed without a single direction this Monday (6) in a session marked by the repercussion of economic indicators from the euro zone and Germany and an intense corporate agenda.
Investors also followed the prospect of increased military spending in Europe and mergers and acquisitions, while shares in the defense and aviation sector stood out.
In London, the FTSE 100 closed down 0.26%, at 10,651.77 points. In Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.21%, to 25,832.52 points. In Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.33%, to 8,479.87 points. In Milan, the FTSE MIB advanced 0.27%, to 52,959.14 points. In Madrid, the Ibex 35 fell 0.92%, to 19,669.20 points. In Lisbon, the PSI 20 lost 1.19%, to 9,217.31 points. Quotes are preliminary.
On the macroeconomic agenda, industrial orders in Germany surprised positively by increasing 1.9% in May compared to April, contrary to expectations of a drop. In the euro zone, retail sales grew 0.2% on the same basis, in line with expectations, while the PPI (producer price index) also rose 0.2%.
Capital Economics assessed that retail showed resilience and reinforces the expectation of a "very small" impact of the recent rise in energy prices on the bloc's GDP (Gross Domestic Product), while Oxford Economics stated that the region's economy continues to stabilize after the shock caused by the crisis involving Iran, although the pace of growth remains moderate.
