Midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed on the field during the friendly match between Denmark and Ukraine, which took place this Sunday (7), at Nature Energy Park, in Odense.

20 minutes into the second half, the 34-year-old player put his hand on his chest and fell to the pitch. The confrontation was stopped immediately and he soon received medical attention.

According to the Danish Federation, Eriksen is conscious and, as far as possible, well. "He was unconscious for a brief moment, but regained consciousness very quickly, and we were able to contact him shortly afterwards. He will now undergo further tests at the hospital to find out what caused the incident," explained team doctor Morten Boesen.

This is not the first time that Christian has had a scare like this on the pitch. In the match against Finland, valid for the first round of Euro 2020, he suffered a cardiac arrest on the field and had to be hospitalized. Since then, the midfielder has used an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), a type of pacemaker that can prevent fatal arrests.

After the incident, Eriksen transferred to Brentford, in England, before arriving at Manchester United, where he stayed for three seasons. Today, the Dane plays for Wolfsburg, in Germany.
