England's list is the first controversy between teams called up for the World Cup

The list of 26 players who will play for England in the 2026 World Cup, announced this Friday (22) by coach Thomas Tuchel, set the world of football apart.

The English Team commander withdrew important names from the World Cup, such as midfielders Phil Foden and Cole Palmer, and right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.

In the Land of the Queen, the newspapers reported the announcement of those called up with surprise. The newspaper "The Sun" says that Tuchel made "bold decisions". According to the English tabloid, the German coach would not be a fan of Palmer and Foden's personality.

Mirror journalist John Cross says that Tuchel was "ruthless and merciless" in some of the decisions he made to reach the list of 26 athletes.

In Portugal, "A Bola" speaks of "shocking absences", while in Spain, "Marca" highlighted that major absences draw more attention than new additions to the list.
