End of 6×1: Senate wing studies how to compensate companies

A wing of the Federal Senate is studying ways to compensate companies if the proposal that abolishes the 6×1 work schedule is approved. The information was gathered by CNN Politics analyst, Larissa Rodrigues, based on conversations with sources and parliamentarians in the National Congress.

According to the analyst, some senators conveyed this message to representatives of the Brazilian business community in meetings held the day before. The indication is that the proposal's processing in the Senate should follow a different path to that observed in the Chamber of Deputies, where the text has already been approved.

Among the alternatives under discussion are payroll tax relief, tax reductions aimed mainly at small and medium-sized entrepreneurs and the extension of the deadline for implementing the new working day.

"There are still several paths being discussed", stated Larissa Rodrigues, highlighting that negotiations are still at an early stage.

The move comes after months of pressure from different sectors of the economy. During the proposal's processing in the Chamber, representatives from industry and commerce sought dialogue with parliamentarians, including meetings with the president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre.

More recently, members of the industrial sector also met with center and center-right senators.

According to sources heard by the analyst, these parliamentarians assess that the proposal tends to advance in the Senate in the face of popular pressure, especially in the context of an election year.

Still, the House must concentrate efforts to include compensation mechanisms for companies, a topic that was less highlighted during the analysis of the text by deputies.

Behind the scenes, there is an expectation that Alcolumbre will forward the proposal to the CCJ (Constitution and Justice Commission) in the coming days. The name of former Senate president Rodrigo Pacheco is also mentioned to report the matter.

According to opposition sources, especially from the PL, there is no resistance to the nomination, and Alcolumbre has committed to consulting the Palácio do Planalto before defining the rapporteur.

Interlocutors interviewed by Larissa Rodrigues believe that Pacheco maintains a good dialogue with the business sector and would be well received by these segments.

While discussions progress in Congress, the topic also gained space in the Council. During the group meeting, Dario Duigan publicly defended the proposal.

"It is important that we move forward with the end of the 6×1 scale", he stated.

According to him, the measure is related to promoting dignity, respect and reducing inequalities in the world of work.
