Elle Fanning reveals her dream director she still wants to work with: Steven Spielberg
From a young age, Elle Fanning has built a solid and steady career in the world of cinema and television. With a career that began at the age of three, the actress has participated in at least one production every year, accumulating valuable experiences and collaborating with some of the most respected names in the film industry. Despite all this baggage, there is one iconic director that Elle has not yet had the opportunity to work with, but who remains at the top of her professional wish list: Steven Spielberg.
Over the years, Elle Fanning has worked with renowned directors such as Tony Scott and Alejandro González Iñárritu, whose films surpassed the $100 million mark at the box office in 2006. More recently, she has collaborated with filmmakers such as James Mangold and Joachim Trier, in addition to realizing a dream by acting under the direction of Sofia Coppola in "The Beguiled", a project that the actress has always admired since she became enchanted by "The Virgin Suicides".
However, the big figure still missing from his CV is Steven Spielberg. During the promotion of the film "Super 8" (2011), directed by JJ Abrams and produced by Spielberg, Elle expressed her desire to be directed by the legendary filmmaker. She commented on Spielberg's influence on the set and the admiration that Abrams has for him, highlighting how incredible it would be to have the experience of working directly with the master of cinema.
The relationship between Abrams and Spielberg is notorious, with "Super 8" paying homage to classics such as "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and "The Greatest Show on Earth", the latter responsible for inspiring Spielberg to begin his career as a director. This connection further reinforces Elle's fascination with the director, who, despite his long career and his penchant for working with young actors, has yet to cast her in a project.
Interestingly, Elle's sister, Dakota Fanning, once had the chance to act in a Spielberg film. In 2005, Dakota participated in the adaptation of "War of the Worlds", playing the daughter of the main character, played by Tom Cruise. The film was a commercial success and received positive reviews, although it is not considered one of the director's greatest works.
With Spielberg still active and productive, and Elle Fanning on the rise, the possibility of a collaboration between the two remains alive. For the actress, this opportunity would be more than a professional milestone, it would be the realization of an old dream, which would certainly add a new dimension to her already impressive career.
