President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's (PT) campaign will limit the use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) in the 2026 elections. The party's decision considers Electoral Court rules for technology and is seen as a strategy to counter Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ).

According to reports from leaders, the PT (Workers' Party) will continue using the tool to improve content, but will avoid running campaign pieces made entirely by AI. The guideline applies especially to publications with the presence of the president.

The social media strategy is to affirm that Lula is a "real person", according to sources in the caption. The assessment is that it will be positive for the president to be a counterpoint to Flávio Bolsonaro's recent pieces made with AI - such as the one transporting Neymar on a military plane.

The decision also aims to avoid challenging the content of Lula's campaign in the Electoral Court - while the PT itself raises the tone in the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) against the use of AI for supposed "deepfakes" and montages for personal attacks.

The choice to limit its use would have been subject to direct guidance from Lula. In a speech in Bahia in May, the president publicly criticized the use of technology in electoral campaigns.

"If we want, we can make artificial Lula hold a rally in 27 states on the same day and at the same time. I'm there, but I'm not there. I confess to you: a citizen who learned character from Mrs. Lindu will not accept Artificial Intelligence to run a political campaign", he stated.

The president of the TSE, Kássio Nunes Marques, decided last month to create a permanent commission to discuss and monitor the use of AI. The collegiate will propose measures to combat disinformation and draw up a plan to guide the use of technology in both administrative activities and trials.
