Edu Guedes gets emotional after resuming his dream a year after cancer

Presenter Edu Guedes, 52, was moved this Wednesday (1st) when he told his followers on social media that he had resumed his sporting dream a year after cancer.

"Exactly a year ago I was going to Portugal. I couldn't go because that's when I found out I was sick and had to have some surgeries. But I thought positively and here I am, going to Portugal, racing in a car there in the Algarve", said Edu in Instagram stories.

"Everyone already ran there last year. I didn't run, and it's worth always thinking positively that we're going to make it, we're going to achieve things. For me, this race is going to be different," he said.

At the beginning of July last year, Edu Guedes was discharged 10 days ahead of schedule, after discovering a tumor in his pancreas and undergoing four surgeries.

Edu's diagnosis became public days before, after the press office confirmed the information to the press. He underwent surgery to remove lumps over the weekend.

According to the statement sent to CNN, Guedes discovered the disease after being diagnosed with a kidney stone. "When further specific tests were carried out, a tumor was discovered in the pancreas, requiring removal surgery", the text said.

Edu Guedes was admitted to Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, in São Paulo. In a statement, the press office stated that the presenter had progressed "faster than expected". After leaving the ICU, he spoke for the first time after cancer surgery.
