Ed Sheeran announces plans to take a break from his career to dedicate himself to his daughters

After years of amending releases, tours and side projects, singer Ed Sheeran, 35, intends to slow down. The British star revealed that he will take a break from his music career at the end of his current tour to dedicate more time to his family.

During a performance of the "LOOP" tour, in the United States, last Saturday (13), the artist told the public that he may be away from the stage for a period of time.

"This is going to be my last time here for a while. Maybe I'll take a break after this tour is over to do dad stuff. So if I don't see you guys for a while, I love you. Thanks for coming," he said between songs.

Ed is the father of two girls: Lyra, aged 5, and Jupiter, aged 4, from his marriage to Cherry Seaborn, with whom he maintains a relationship away from the spotlight. In recent interviews, the musician had spoken about his desire to expand his family.

"I think maybe I want another girl. They're a lot of fun. They're ups and downs; when they throw a tantrum, it's for real! They're very close in age, so it's like they work in sync. When you have kids with little age difference, it's chaotic, but also really good, because they play together, bathe together and go to school together. Everything happens at the same time," he told the British newspaper the Daily Star.

On the occasion, the "Perfect" singer also explained that he established limits to preserve family moments, including in relation to his fans.

The Grammy winner stated that, when he is accompanied by his daughters, he always refuses photos with admirers.

"If I'm with them, I say no to the photos, because one time I was with Lyra when someone asked for a selfie and while the photo was being taken, she fell. I thought, 'I'm not being a father right now'. So now the answer is simply no. People generally understand, although some can be rude. But it's much more important to be a father to my daughter than to be a pop star to anyone else."
