Venezuela suffers strongest earthquake in more than 100 years
The number of deaths in the earthquakes that hit Venezuela rose to 235, the Ministry of Health reported on Thursday night (25). The previous report indicated 188 victims.

The two earthquakes, of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5, hit the country on Wednesday night (24), less than a minute apart.
"Unfortunately, we received around 235 patients who arrived without vital signs or died upon reaching the health units," Health Minister Luis Alvarado told state television.
According to authorities, thousands of people were injured, around 200 remain trapped under the rubble and rescue teams continue to search for survivors.
The most affected region is the state of La Guaira, north of Caracas, which has been classified by the government as a "disaster zone". Hospitals were full, thousands of people spent the night outside their homes and residents reported a lack of heavy machinery to extract victims from the rubble.
International rescue teams began arriving in the country, while governments and organizations announced the sending of humanitarian aid.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) had already warned that the death toll could increase as searches progress in the worst-hit areas.
An independent website created to gather information on the missing records almost 40,000 people wanted after the earthquakes. The number has not been independently verified nor confirmed by the Venezuelan government.
