EA Sports FC 26 gets World Cup mode with 48 teams

Playstation confirmed, this Tuesday (26), the update of the new World Cup mode in EA Sports FC 26, starting June 2. The announcement has not yet been officially made by the video game company Electronic Arts (EA).

According to Playstation, the World Cup mode will feature the 48 teams classified for the competition. In addition, an exclusive custom trophy, new ball designs, new stadiums and teams with 26 players will also be integrated into the game. Some of the athletes will also have real-life designs.

Originally announced as part of the PS Plus monthly games selection, EA Sports FC 26 will remain available in the category until June 16th.

This EA Sports FC update will be World Cup themed. The announcement has not yet been officially made by EA, but internal sources say that the update will take place this Wednesday (27) for FC Mobile, the cell phone version of the game.

Brazil back
Amarelinha returns to the game fully licensed in the game, both with players and uniforms. The last time Brazil was present in this way in the game was in 2022, in FIFA 23, in special free DLC for the 2022 World Cup.

Without FIFA
The 2026 World Cup mode will be the first edition of EA Sports FC launched in a World Cup year following the loss of FIFA's naming rights. Since 2022, EA no longer has the license to use the Fifa brand in any of its games.

Since 1993, the game was known as FIFA, but since then it has been published under the new name EA Sports FC. The game is not licensed by the entity, but allows gamers to play the World Cup within the game with a generic name and trophy.
