Spain will lift the 2026 World Cup trophy. At least that's what the traditional simulation carried out by Electronic Arts at EA Sports FC 26, released this week on the company's social networks, points out.

Using the international tournament mode added to the game in "The World's Game" update, released at the end of May, the developer simulated all 104 matches of the competition that will be played in the United States, Canada and Mexico between June and July of next year.

In the projection, the Spanish team wins the second world title in its history by winning the final of the tournament. Although the forecast is recreational in nature, the franchise's recent history draws attention. Before the last four World Cups, EA's simulations correctly indicated the titles of Spain in 2010, Germany in 2014, France in 2018 and Argentina in 2022.

The 2026 edition will be the largest in the history of the competition, with 48 participating teams divided into 12 groups.

The prediction had already been suggested in promotional materials released by EA Sports itself before the launch of the special mode. On social media, the company reinforced its guess by publishing the complete result of the simulation.

We've predicted four in a row. Now we've run the sim again.

Despite no longer having the official rights to the World Cup since the end of the partnership with FIFA, which ended in 2022, EA Sports FC 26 reproduces a structure similar to that of the real tournament. The mode features a group stage, knockout matches and dozens of licensed teams.

Among the new features is the return of the fully licensed Brazilian team, with uniforms, shield and authentic representations of the athletes for the first time since FIFA 23. The content can also be used in modes such as Ultimate Team and Career.
