This Saturday morning (6), amid the break in the calendar for the World Cup, defender João Pedro Tchoca published photos at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava, where he is continuing his recovery process from inguinal hernia surgery, carried out on May 8th. The surgical procedure was carried out by doctor/gastrosurgeon Dr Walter Ayres Júnior, at Vila Nova Star Hospital.
In the images, the defender appears performing exercises in the gym under the supervision of the club's physiotherapy department. He was joined by striker Kayke, 22, who is recovering from surgery on the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee (ACL). The number 4 also did ball work on one of the CT fields with physiotherapist Amil Henrique. There is no specific deadline set for the young man to return to the field.

Taking into account cases like this, recovery can take one to two months. Before undergoing hernia surgery, the defender had been diagnosed with pubalgia. João Pedro Tchoca has not played since March 19, when Alvinegro drew goalless with Chapecoense, at Arena Condá, in the seventh round of the Brasileirão. That day, he played 90 minutes and had a Sofascore performance rating of 7.0. Since then, he has only been on the bench in the games against Fluminense (F) and Internacional (C), in the ninth and tenth rounds of the national tournament.
The defender has been part of Corinthians' professional squad since mid-2024, when he was promoted after winning the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Jr at the beginning of that year. Initially, he had little space and was loaned to Ceará in the second half of the year. On the northeastern team, he stood out and was a starter in the final stretch of the team's access campaign to the 2025 Series A.
At the beginning of last year, he was reinstated to the Corinthians squad and became an option in the sector, which currently, in addition to him, includes: Gustavo Henrique, Gabriel Paulista, André Ramalho and Iago Machado - the latter has not yet debuted as a professional, but was already being observed by the technical committees of Dorival Júnior and now by Fernando Diniz.
In total, there are 37 games with the Corinthians shirt, with 19 wins, 12 draws and six defeats - 62.16% success rate, with two goals scored. Furthermore, he was part of the conquests of the Campeonato Paulista (2025), Copa do Brasil (2025) and Supercopa do Brasil (2026), against Palmeiras, Vasco da Gama and Flamengo, respectively.
Timão, it is worth remembering, will only return to the pitch in the week of July 22nd, when they will host Remo, with no set time yet, at the Neo Química Arena, for the last round of the first round of the Brazilian Championship. Before that, on July 12th, Alvinegro must play a friendly against FC Cascavel, from Paraná, at the Estádio Olímpico Regional. According to ge.globo, athletes should resume training at CT on June 25th, Thursday.
