Durigan sees Brazil as ungovernable with high fiscal cost measures

The Minister of Finance, Dario Durigan, assesses that if the proposals with high fiscal impact being processed in the National Congress are approved, the next governments will have to deal with an "ungovernable" Brazil. The statement was given to the Metrópoles portal this Thursday morning (18).

"In the coming years, whoever is governing the country will have an ungovernable country. It is a commitment to the future and I have warned Congress", declared the minister.

There are nine texts being processed in the National Congress that have raised a warning signal in the economic team. The federal government estimates a fiscal impact of R$111 billion per year if the proposals are approved.

The economic team is already considering appealing to the STF (Supreme Federal Court) if it is unable to contain the advancement of proposals with high fiscal costs.

"If we are unable to contain [issues with high fiscal impact] with political effort, I would have to go to the Supreme Court so as not to compromise the country's future generations", stated the minister.
